Today’s St. John’s University students are not too different that they were when the University first opened its doors in 1970. Many of them are still the first in their families to go to college, and they still rely on scholarship support to realize their dreams of a quality college education. Our donors help them to achieve their goals.
As St. John’s continues to fulfill its mission of assisting students with financial challenges – more than 97% of our undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid much of it from the University’s own funds – your support is needed to help them succeed.
You can help deserving students pay for college by establishing and endowed or expendable scholarship. An endowed scholarship is established with a minimum of $50,000 which is invested. Interest accrued is then awarded annually to students who meet the scholarship criteria. An expendable scholarship is established with a minimum of $5,000. Those funds are then awarded to students who meet the scholarship criteria.
Partners for Student Success Scholarship Program
Generous alumni and friends can transform the lives of today’s neediest students by supporting the Partners for Student Success Scholarship Program. The goal of this five-year effort is to raise $15 million for the University’s endowment funds. Donors establish a named endowment with an outright gift or pledge of $100,000 or more, payable over three to five years. Meanwhile, the University matches five, six, or seven percent of those gifts to fund student scholarships while the funds mature.
