Vision Statement
The Office of Academic Service-Learning will strive to provide essential organizational and administrative services for all constituents—students, faculty and community service sites. Our student and faculty centered services will enable innovative teaching, rational inquiry and reflective learning. As articulated in the University Mission, as well as our Department Mission, we strive to enhance the educational experience of student participants so that they become more fully committed to the Vincentian Charism of St. John’s University through active service to communities in need. As the embodiment of the “real life” actualization of Vincentian values, mores and ethics, Academic Service-Learning will become known throughout the University and its many constituencies for addressing social justice issues and preparing our students for life-long participation in the democratic process through enlightened civic engagement.
