Nature and Purpose of
Agency
The New Life Food and Clothing Pantry serves the Elmhurst
community’s low-income populace with nutritious non-perishable
food, occasional fresh produce, personal care items and gently-used
clothing free of charge. New Life serves approximately 150-160
clients per shift and is a very diverse community, helping people
from all backgrounds.
Tasks Available for Students
• Help distribute food and clothing and create a
sense of community for Elmhurst and Queens residents. Assistance
needed with food bag preparation, clothing set up, assisting
clients, and clean up and breakdown.
• Health Clinic: Assistance is needed checking in and processing
paperwork, pulling files, setting up rooms, and inputting patient
information into automated system. Opportunities also available for
pre-dental students.
• Assistance with data entry and clerical work needed.
Time
Requirements
There are two shifts for food and clothing; Tuesday evenings from
6pm – 8:30pm and Saturday mornings from 9am – 1pm. The reading
program and health clinic are open on Saturdays.
