Nature and purpose of agency
We desire to serve the poor with the love of Christ by providing
them with food and other social services. We aim to restore
each individual’s dignity enabling them to reach their God-given
potential. We work to empower low-income families and the
homeless by providing them with the necessary tools to build a
hopeful and brighter future.
Tasks available for students
SPECIAL PROJECT
Love Kitchen is currently working to develop a bakery in order to
generate funds for the soup kitchen. Currently, they have
secured a contract with NYU to prepare and ship several baked
items. Love Kitchen is in need of identifying additional
venues to sell their baked goods too.
FOOD SERVICE
Lunch Service – need assistance every THIRD and FOURTH Saturday of
the month to distribute cooked meals between 11:30am – 1pm.
Can accommodate up to ten volunteers per session.
Food Preparation and clean up for the evening dinner service Monday
through Fridays from 1pm – 4pm. Two volunteers needed per
shift.

Driving
Start out heading south on Utopia Parkway. Turn right onto
Grand Central Service Road west. Merge onto the Grand Central
Parkway west. Continue onto
I-278 East (Bruckner) towards the Triborough Bridge (also known as
the Robert F Kennedy Bridge). Merge onto I-87N (Major Deegan
Expressway) toward Albany. Take the W. Fordham Rd. exit (exit
9) toward Univ. Heights. Make left off the exit and cross
over small bridge. Make immediate next left onto 9th
Ave. Love Kitchen is located inside the Manhattan Bible
Church (blue awning).
Public Transportation
Start out going North on Utopia Pky towards Union Tpke. Take
the QM5 Bus from Union Tpke/Utopia Pkwy station heading to
Midtown. This is an express bus. The fare is $5.50.
Get off at 6 Av/42 St. 3 min walk. Start out going West
on W 42nd St towards Broadway. Entrance near
intersection of W 42nd St and Broadway. Take the 1 train from
42 Street - Times Square station heading Uptown / to Van Cortlandt
Park. Get off at 207 Street. Exit near intersection of
W 207th St and 10th Ave. 5 min walk. Start out going
South West on 10th Ave towards W 206th St. Turn left onto W
204th St. Turn left onto 9th Ave. Arrive at 3816 9TH
