Nature and purpose of agency
The Holy Trinity Lutheran Church men’s shelter provides meals and shelter to homeless men during the winter (November through April) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.  The shelter capacity is 14.  The Shelter Coordinator is present every evening to run the shelter and oversee the volunteers’ activities.  The shelter is supported by NYC’s Department of Homeless Services, the New York Partnership for the Homeless, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Tasks available for students
Students are needed to assist with dinner preparation and shelter set up.  Tasks may include cooking, serving, setting up beds, signing in and socializing with clients, and cleaning up after the evening meal.

Time requirements
November-April: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.

The shelter can accommodate a maximum of 3 student volunteers per evening, but service opportunities may not be available every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Contact the Shelter Coordinator to inquire about shift availability.
