Nature and Purpose of Agency
Public School 51, Early Childhood Center, strives to create the
best opportunity for all students to learn in a creative and
nurturing environment. The entire school community endeavors

Tasks Available for Students
ESL Program Assistance: Help with the ESL program called “Imagine
Learning” at PS 51Q. Students can help with this program in self
contained ESL classes or assist English language learners in their
regular classroom. The time commitment is flexible during the
school day.
Lunch/Recess Assistance: Facilitate games and interact with the
children at PS51Q. Four volunteers are needed Monday-Friday from 11
a.m. until 1 p.m.
After School Homework Help: Work one on one with students to
help them with their homework on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:15
to 4:15 p.m.
Library Day Assistance: Serve in the library on Fridays helping
the students to select books to check out for the weekend. 1 to 2
students are needed every Friday, times are flexible throughout the
day.
Time Requirements
Note: A four week commitment is required to serve at this
school for any of the programs above. You can serve one day per
week for four weeks.
Student Awareness/Special Instructions
Please contact the Parent Coordinator, Andrea Kelly,
above, and let her know which program you would like to serve with
and when you are available to serve.A recent PPD test is required
to serve at the school. Your medical records can be provided free
of charge by bringing the Medical Records release form to the nurse
in DaSilva Hall. This form can be picked up from your professor,
from the Office of AS-L in Lourdes Hall, or printed from our
