Nature and Purpose of Agency:
The United Way GPS-NYC/AIDP is a partnership between St. John’s University and W.E.B. Du Bois High School. The primary objective of the program is to bridge the gap between our students’ current academic status and the status needed to obtain a high school diploma. Focusing on the educational, social, emotional, and vocational needs of the student population, The United Way Program offers guidance and support as students prepare to gain knowledge to help them enter the job market or to begin college. The United Way GPS-NYC/AIDP (Graduate Prepare Succeed-New York City /Attendance Improvement and Dropout Prevention) program offers students strategies, motivation, and incentives to attend school on a regular basis in order to decrease absences and dropouts.

Tasks Available for Students:
Assist students during class, with Saturday SAT prep classes,  After School Regents prep classes, college search with students, during Open House nights, and act as chaperons during field trips to NYC and college (day and evening).

Time Requirements:
Student Awareness/Special Instructions: Depending on duration of time students are there during the semester, may need fingerprints (paid for by Brooklyn Bridge program)
