Nature and Purpose of Agency
There mission is to provide support to the immigrant community through educational, legal, and personal advancement programs that encourage integration into American Society. They will assist all adults of all ethnic backgrounds to become literate and obtain the necessary skills to secure employment, become self-sufficient, and pursue further education.  

Tasks Available for Students
ESL Program
Students will work with the adult students and assist the Certified ESL teacher. Volunteers will assist the teachers with the execution of each lesson plan. Activities will range from leading conversation exercises to spending 1-on-1 time helping those students who need assistance. In addition, they will work in small groups to assist the students with basic educational skills in literacy, writing and ESL.

Conversation Mixers
A unique opportunity where students will assist English language learners practice conversational English in a casual environment. Students will start off at One Flushing and walk to another location listed below.

Time Requirements   
Every Sunday from March 13th to July 10th Volunteers can work from 3pm to 6pm.


Bi-Wednesday Conversation Mixers: Wednesdays, 6 to 8 PM

By Car
Head south on Utopia Pkwy toward 82nd Ave. Turn right at Grand Central Pkwy. Take the exit onto Grand Central Pkwy. Take exit 10 E-W toward I-495/Long Is Expy/Eastern Long Is Manhattan. Keep right at the fork to continue toward I-678 N/Van Wyck Expy. Follow signs for I-678 N/Van Wyck Expy/Whitestone Bridge and merge onto I-678 N/Van Wyck Expy. Take exit 13 to merge onto New York 25A E/Northern Blvd. Turn right at Main St. Turn Left at 41st Ave.

By public transportation
Take the Q46 towards Kew Gardens/Queens Blvd via Union. Get off on Main St. and Union TP. Take the Q44 towards Bronx Zoo/W Farms Sq via Main St. Get off on Main St. and Kissena Blvd. Walk up to 41st Avenue and make a right.

OR

Take the Q46 towards Kew Gardens/Queens Blvd via Union TP. Get off at Kew Gardens and take the E or F train to Manhattan. Get off at Roosevelt Avenue and then take the 7 to Main St. Walk south until 41st Ave. and make a left.
