Tasks Available for Students
The following Programs are available for volunteer work:

Immigration (C.C.I.)

  • Applications for residency, etc., movements, Letter writing campaigns
  • Campaigns; advocacy, press conferences
  • Orient clients to immigration programs, rights, laws, etc.

Living situations (United Tenant Coalition-UTC)

  • Services provided; DHCR, letter writing, legal issues
  • Campaigns; rent regulations
  • Orient clients regarding rent issues

Rufus King Park (A.V.P.R.K.)

  • Maintenance of park facilities, community events
  • Campaigns

Employment

  • Worker’s rights, references, compensation, job security
  • Provide campaign support

Education of Social Issues

  • Explanation of how government systems work in the United States
  • Government agencies and organizations
  • Maintain our Hispanic culture: provide workshops to develop organizations and leadership qualities

Training Sessions

  • Community organization
  • Workshops:  planning, coordination, public relations, etc.
  • English classes, computer classes
  • Seminars; taxes, worker’s rights, civil rights, etc.

Special Instructions
Students must be able to speak and understand at least basic Spanish.***
