Team Leaders

Now:

  • Contact site to finalize all details of the project, supplies, etc.
  • Get directions to the site and make your transportation arrangements to the site.
  • Make your Team list and include all phone numbers, cell phone numbers, etc.
  • Make your lunch/refreshment plans. 

Day Before:

1.  Send an email to your team confirming:

  • Time and place to meet in the morning (8:30am in Carnasecca Arena).
  • Bring STJ ID; your ID card will be swiped as you enter.
  • What to wear (bring T-shirt from last year if they have one) or new T-shirts will be distributed.
  • Confirm all number and how they can contact you the morning of USD in case of an emergency. 
  • Confirm transportation plans.
  • Ask if someone on your team be able to take pictures and have a camera.

2.  Count on drop outs ... it's inevitable.

3.  Print out the evaluations (which will be emailed to you the week before USD) to bring with you if you will be meeting at the end of the service to reflect. 

4.  Remember to bring your folder with your site info, contact info, evaluation forms, pencils and any supplies.  

 Day Of USD:

  • Check in for Team Leaders will begin at 8:15am in Carnasecca Arena (after you swipe in go to the right to check in).
  • Check in for Team Members will begin at 8:30am in Carnasecca Arena (after you swipe in go to the left for your T-shirt and breakfast). 
  • Find what section your team will be in and sit in that area, so they can find you.
  • Opening ceremony will begin at 9:00am. 
  • Listen to the directions for the group picture at the end of the ceremony so you can get your team in place. 
  • When it's time to leave, lead our team out and make sure everyone is set. 
  • When at yoru site, introduce everyone (some teams are combined so there could be people serving with you that you may not know). 
  • Get your team started on whatever the project is (they will look to you for direction).

  • Check in with your Team to see how they are doing. 
  • Take breaks, take pictures and have fun!!

 End of the Day:

  • Get your whole team to gather together to complete your evaluations and to talk about the day and reflect, share, and laugh!
  • If you cannot meet on the same day, schedule a time to meet ot reflect and complete the evaluation the week of September 22nd (you want to schedule it soon after the service). 

After:

  • Send a thank you to your Team.
  • Send an email to your department wth a brief summary of what your team did along with any pictures you may have taken.
  • Remind your Team that there are opportunities to continue your service throughout the year; you may even want to go back to yoru site at another tiem in the year.
