Marian Maskulak, CPS is an assistant professor of Theology and Religious Studies at St. John’s University, Queens, NY.  She received her Ph.D. in Theology from the University of St. Michael’s College, Toronto, and the S.T. D. from Regis College, Toronto.  Her area of special interest is spirituality.

Description
Silence is an integral part of all forms of prayer and yet, in a world of constantly increasing stimuli, the role of silence in prayer can easily be overlooked. This talk considers the importance of silence in various forms of prayer, but most especially in the prayer of "resting in God" - contemplation.

Rev. Thomas Caserta is a priest of the diocese of Brooklyn currently assigned as pastor of St. Bernadette's. For twenty-two years he served as spiritual director of the college seminary in Douglaston and has been an adjunct assistant professor at St. John's for over 25 years. He is actively involved in giving retreats to laity, priests, and men and women in consecrated life both in the United States and abroad.

Description
The presentation will focus on prayer as an experience of grace - God's free gift of himself to the soul. Special attention will be paid to prayer of petition and prayer in the midst of difficulty. Some thought will also be given to the changing face of prayer through the stages of our lives.

Pam Shea-Byrnes, D.Min., serves as the Vice President of University Ministry and University Events at St. John’s University.  She has worked in ministry to youth and young adults for nearly 25 years within the Diocese of Brooklyn at St. John’s University and at St. James Cathedral.

If we truly want to develop our prayer lives, we have to begin to recognize Him in the ordinary moments of each day. Spend some time considering practical ways that you can work to make your prayer more meaningful and transformative.
