At St. John’s University, service to the community is much more
than a one-time volunteer experience; it is a lifetime commitment.
Service allows us to express our faith. Our desire to reach out to
those in need is a direct extension of our Vincentian
heritage and the mission of the University.
At St. John’s, we believe that giving back to the community
teaches us lessons that can only be learned by serving, lessons
that deepen our faith. This is why we see faith and service as
inextricably connected; while faith inspires the service we do, it
is still nurtured by service.
Faith and Service is the guiding philosophy that encourages
every member of the St. John’s community to use St. John’s
educational and spiritual resources to the best advantage of the
larger community while engaging with their faith.
St. John’s University continues to embody its Vincentian mission
through its Faith and Service programs. We invite you to explore
our various service opportunities and academic and scholarship
programs that incorporate service and hope that you will be
inspired to take part in this St. John’s
experience.

Windows on Vincent
In this year, the Vincentian Family throughout the world celebrates
the 350th anniversary of St. Vincent and St. Louise. At St.

is through a series of talks which combine a story from one of the
beautiful windows in St. Thomas More Church with an important value
in the faith of St. Vincent.
