St. John’s University will pay special tribute to all United
States Veterans with ceremonies on its Queens and Staten Island
campuses on Friday, November 11. These observances are
sponsored by the Office of Community Relations and are held
annually on both campuses.
The Staten Island campus ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. and
the ceremony in Queens begins at Noon.
Designed to honor those who served our country and protected our
freedom, the ceremonies on both campuses will include a short
invocation followed by a Wreath Laying, as we acknowledge those who
have served in the military and honor those heroes who fought to
preserve the freedom and liberty we hold so dearly.
Additionally, the “Star Spangled Banner” will be performed at the
ceremony and “Taps” will be played in honor of those who made the
ultimate sacrifice. Light refreshments will be served following the
ceremony for registered veterans and their spouses.
St. John’s University ROTC cadets will be on hand to assist in
the ceremony, and other veterans - students and administrators –
will be available.
