The 2nd annual Career Week culminated with the Fall Career Fair
held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010. At this highly successful
event, over 1200 students and alumni, with polished resumes in hand
and dressed to impress, met with 113 employers at the annual event
sponsored by the Career
year, employers come to educate St. John’s University students
about their companies with the goal of hiring motivated and
exceptional students from many different fields and backgrounds for
internship, full-time and part-time positions.
One hundred and thirteen companies/organizations participated,
including well-known Kraft Foods, American Eagle Outfitters,
Deloitte, Fisher Price, Katz Media, Jet Blue, Radio Disney, and The
Bank of New York Mellon, as well as many more.
A representative from Astoria Federal Savings made note that, “this
is one of the top job fairs [their] company attends.” The
Family & Children’s Association highlighted the Fall Career
Fair as, “absolutely the best Job Fair in the city and on Long
Students were equally impressed with the organization of the fair
and number of companies attending. One first-year student from St.
John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences noted that “all of
these businesses seemed to represent a wide range of
Career Week, in its 2nd year, is a collaborative effort between the
Career Center and the five undergraduate colleges at St.
John’s. Themed “Engage. Explore. Experience,” the goal of the
week-long event is to increase student knowledge and awareness of
internships—academic and paid/experiential—and to foster
collaboration between the University’s academic sector and the
Career Center through partnerships aimed intentionally at student
