Employee Assistance Program: Drug-Free
Workplace Education
St. John’s University maintains a Drug and Alcohol Policy that
represents our commitment to providing a safe and healthy work
environment for our employees and to an educational community that
is free of illegal drug use and alcohol abuse. Substance abuse by
employees can have serious adverse effects on the safety of our
students, co-workers, business partners, and University property,
as well as on workplace morale and job performance. Upon completion
of the Drug-Free Workplace Education workshop, employees will be
familiar with: • The University’s Drug and Alcohol Policy • The
prevalence of alcohol and drug abuse and its impact on the
workplace • How to recognize signs and symptoms, and the link
between poor performance and substance abuse • The progression of
the disease of addiction • How to encourage those employees who
have problems with alcohol or drugs to voluntarily seek help • The
type of assistance that is available through the Employee
Assistance Program, More to Life
