Job Purpose:  Teacher Counselors (TC’s) will lead the English language arts (ELA) program.  The goal of the program is to assist students in increasing their reading ability and vocabulary comprehension. TC’s will have one period of computers a day. While in the computer lab TC’s will assist Computer Teachers and students during the computer lesson. Each TC will have a Certified NYS Teacher mentoring them through out the summer.  Applicants must have prior experience working with youth. Preference is given to education majors. Camp dates (including training) July 8th - August 9th 

Job Responsibilities: 
Morning Duties: (8:30-12:20)
1. Assist in the directing of buses
2. Assist in organizing of campers coming off the buses and receiving jerseys. 
3. Lead small groups to breakfast
4. Over-seeing campers during breakfast
5. Escorting campers to your classroom to start ELA program
6. Escorting and assisting students in their computer activities
7. Escort campers back to lunch facility and to their correct seating assignment

Afternoon Duties: (1:00-4:00)
1. Meet with assigned afternoon campers in the dining facility
2. Escorting campers to your classroom to start ELA program
3. Escort campers to bus pick up location to end the day
4. Escorting and assisting students in their computer activities
5. Assisting students in returning jerseys and locating their NYCHA housing site.

• Books, pencils, paper, computers

• Experience working with youth
• Excellent communication skills and detail oriented
• The ability to handle confidential matters and to be professional
• Ability to work well with others
• Willingness to tackle new projects
• Ability to work all CampUs dates
