Job Summary: To assist the Office of Conference
Services as a member of a team of Student Campus Ambassadors during
daily work shifts in executing the duties and responsibilities in
the areas of Ambassadors operations.
Conference Services Supervisor: Event
Manager
Responsibilities:
o Attend required weekly training sessions in May
o Act as liaison between Office of Conference Services and
other on-campus departments including but not limited to
Chartwells, Public Safety, Facilities Services, Information
Technology, and Residence Life
o Provide exceptional, courteous and knowledgeable customer
service to ensure successful outcomes for guests
o Provide a comfortable environment for guests
o As a part of a team of Student Workers, greet international
guests upon their arrival at local airports, escort them to charter
buses and accompany by bus to campus. Direct bus drivers to
the Registration Center.
o Assist with check-ins/outs for large groups of clients;
on/off-load luggage, assist with crowd control, direct guests to
Registration, Residence Halls, and other campus locations
o Conduct orientation sessions with all group leaders within
their first 24 hours of arrival to campus.
o Oversee evening social activities for international student
guests, such as, dances, karaoke and movies
o Work with the Office of Conference Services Supervisor to
plan, organize and manage on-campus evening social activities for
group leaders
o Make an active effort to communicate with international
students to improve their English speaking skills
o Take photos for group members as a compilation of their
excursion experiences for their viewing on the Conference Services
social networking pages after their two week stay
Qualifications:
o Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all
summer conference guests (young adults)
o Ability to work well with a team of peers, staff, and
administration
o Ability to assert oneself
o Willingness to be on the front-line of communications on
behalf of Office of Conference Services
o Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons, nights and
weekends
o Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
o Ability to lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
o Flexibility to handle responsibilities assigned to meet the
needs of clients and the department
o Great attention to detail and exceptional organization
skills
o Operating knowledge of Google and Hopstop.com
o Willingness to work collegially with Team Leaders, Student
Ambassadors and Conference Assistants
o Ability to abide by and enforce policies and procedures
established by Office of Conference Services
Student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week
during the academic year. The Office of Conference Services cannot
guarantee full-time hours for all shifts during the summer months
(May - August). Employee’s summer hours may range between 20
hours and 35 hours per week.
