Supervisors/Managers

If you are a supervisor or manager and you want to request a student worker opening in your department you should:

  • Be prepared to provide information about the position, special skills needed, work schedule, whether it is a College Work-Study or Non-Work Study opening, and any additional information related to the position.
  • Review the Supervisor’s Guide to Managing Student Workers.
  • Complete the Student Worker Request Form, which can be found on the Human Resources website listed under HR Forms, and forward the request to the Recruitment Office at casciom@stjohns.edu or via fax (718) 990-5887. You may also contact the office at the same email address or call (718) 990-2331 to have the request form forwarded to you.
  • View the list of positions below to ensure the position is posted.

Students
If you are a student who is interested in employment on campus you should:

  • Review the Guide to Student Employment.
  • Visit the Student Employment Job Postings list (see below).
  • Complete the Student Employment Application (refer to instructions below).
  • If you need assistance please call or stop by the Office of Human Resources on the Queens Campus Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m. on Friday) and speak to the Student Worker Coordinator about the position in which you are interested.
  • Review the Student Worker Handbook, designed to assist you, the student, by giving you clear, concise, information you will need to be successful as a student worker.

To access and complete the Student Employment Application:

  1. Log onto St. John’s Central with your User Name and Password.
  2. Click the secure University Information System (UIS) link.
  3. On the Student Information System page, select Student and Financial Aid.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select Student Employment Application.
  5. Click the job posting link to review all open positions.
  6. You may enter up to 3 different job IDs and continue by answering the required questions.
  7. When you have finished, click the Accept button at the bottom of the form.

Note

  • If you are a student who is receiving a Federal College Work-Study Grant, please ensure all paperwork has been filed with the Office of Student Financial Services.
  • To find out if you are eligible for a Federal College Work-Study Grant call or visit the Office of Student Financial Services in the lower level of Bent Hall (across from Carnesecca Arena) on the Queens campus at (718) 990-2000 (for Queens and Manhattan students), or in the Kelleher Center at (718) 390-4453 on the Staten Island campus.
