The Office of Marketing and Communications plays a critical role in the success of this dynamic vision through the development and implementation of an integrated communications plan that reflects the University’s mission and goals. The Office’s extensive creative resources are the cornerstones of an innovative mix of promotional efforts that span multiple mediums.

Job Description
Responsible for the creation and implementation of a comprehensive communication plan as well as a strategic marketing plan.  This position manages University-wide communication to internal and external constituents including current and prospective students, parents, feeder schools, employees, faculty, alumni, benefactors, and the community.  Also responsible for strategic implementation of the University’s image and recruiting efforts while ensuring development of and compliance with St. John’s brand and positioning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of employees including the Directors of Brand Communication, Web Development, Internal and External Communication, CRM, and Research in the delivery of day to day services to the University community.
  • Enhance the University’s brand/image through development and implementation of a marketing strategy linked with STJ’s mission, vision and strategic priorities across all audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to showcase St. John’s initiatives both internally and externally as appropriate.
  • Manage marketing, promotion, web and advertising activities University-wide.  Facilitate relationships with specific academic and administrative units to ensure relevance, consistency and accountability.
  • Provide strategic and thought leadership to develop specialized marketing programs and initiatives and explore new opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance work flow and maximize resources.
  • Maintain integrity of University brand and champion its growth and significance among key internal constituencies.
  • Coordinate research efforts to support marketing vision and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in marketing, advertising and communications, including web development; demonstrated success working on brand/image strategies, preferably in a higher education arena.
  • Strong strategic, organizational, research and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize a vision, analyze patterns of information and external trends, and develop and implement effective marketing plans.
  • Strong people management skills. Ability to collaborate and work effectively with peers and at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective influence and negotiation skills.
  • Strong customer orientation, both internal and external.

Salary
Salary commensurate with your qualifications, experience, and contingent upon the departmental budget.
