Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Associate Vice President for Development will provide overall guidance and management for the Development activities for the University and liaison with other development units.  The Associate Vice President will lead a team of seventeen professionals including four department directors.  As part of the Institutional Advancement management team, this senior level position will build, lead and manage a dynamic team to achieve the University’s fundraising goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance for the Office of Development including Major Gifts, Athletic Development, Gift Planning and Corporate & Foundation Relations to ensure both donor and revenue targets are achieved for annual fundraising goals and campaign goals.
  • Provide oversight of campaign strategies, goals, solicitations to ensure targets are met.
  • Coordinate strategy for the integration of Annual Giving campaigns, inclusive of direct mail solicitations and telemarketing.
  • Oversee the Major Gift functions to ensure leadership gift officers are systematically cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors.
  • Oversee Athletic Development to support the athletic needs through major gift solicitation, annual giving, special events and alumni relations.
  • Oversee Corporate and Foundation giving and solicitation programs.
  • Cultivate, steward and solicit major gifts from select prospects through multiple contacts and face-to-face visits.  Recommend suitable giving vehicles, determine donor interest and direct them towards University priorities.
  • Evaluate, design, implement and benchmark fundraising programs to maximize revenue generation in annual and capital programs.
  • In conjunction with the Institutional Planning Process and the academic deans, design process to ensure that unit plans are developed in a thorough and consistent framework; metrics are defined and tracked; monthly/annual plans are submitted; initiatives are monitored for completion; budgets are on track and on schedule.
  • Develop, administer and manage all related budgets to minimize the cost per dollar raised.
  • Establish regular meetings with functional department managers within Institutional Advancement and the University at large.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters degree  preferred from a recognized college or university.
  • Minimum of seven years relevant management experience with a proven track record of fund raising for a large, complex organization, preferably during a Capital Campaign.
  • Candidate must be a proven leader and strategic thinker with vision with a demonstrated commitment to our Catholic and Vincentian mission.
  • Excellent manager and team builder with top-notch planning and organizational skills is a must.
  • Experience in a higher education and managing a large number of employees and budgets is preferred.

Salary
Salary commensurate with your qualifications, experience, and contingent upon the departmental budget.
