Job Description
The Office of Grants and Sponsored Research is currently seeking a flexible and organized team player to provide support in the preparation and submission of grants and contracts to multiple agencies.  This individual will report to the Director of the Office of Grants and Sponsored Research.

This Individual will have primary responsibility for supporting the submission of proposals to multiple funding sources, including the National Institute of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Education, and other agencies, corporations, and foundations.  This includes assisting in the development of budgets and budget justifications, tracking of budgets, interpreting guidelines, proposal preparation, and other items related to successfully manage sponsored projects.  This will require coordination among multiple offices.  Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

  • Managing proposal development from inception of idea to proposal completion.
  • Finding and communicating funding sources to appropriate faculty members.
  • Creation of budgets and budget justifications.
  • Completion of agency applications, including final review of completed documents, correct organization of proposal elements, and transmission to agencies.  This includes electronic and paper applications.
  • Acting as a primary contact with federal, state and local agencies and private sponsors relating to active projects.
  • Preparation of and follow-through on internal documents relating to active projects.
  • Developing additional reporting systems in Microsoft Access on various items of sponsored projects.
  • Assist roll out of new sponsored programs web based management system to faculty and STJ community.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Maturity, flexibility and the ability to perform complex projects independently.  Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.  At times, due to deadlines, it will be necessary for this individual to work beyond normal work hours, even without extensive notice.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, math and writing skills.  Ability to interact with deans, principal investigators as well as other University personnel.
  • Candidate should have a bachelors degree with one to two years experience with sponsored projects, preferably at an institution of higher education.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, database applications and facility with the internet.
  • Individual must be comfortable with on-line proposal development and submission, and addressing multiple tasks in quick succession.
  • Familiarity with use of databases and other resources for identification of funding sources.
  • Ability to assist and advise individuals on grants.gov submissions and emerging technology needs in the filed of electronic research administration
  • Experience in editing proposals.
  • Familiarity with Federal regulations related to sponsored projects.
  • Familiarity with NYC Department of Education contracts process highly desirable.

Salary
Salary commensurate with your qualifications, experience, and contingent upon the departmental budget.
