School’s LL.M. programs for the 2012-13 academic year:
LL.M. in Bankruptcy
St. John’s offers the nation’s only LL.M. in Bankruptcy program and
we accept only about a dozen highly motivated students a year. Our
intensive and comprehensive curriculum spans the gamut of
bankruptcy practice. We also offer the J.D./LL.M. joint degree
program, where you can complete both your J.D. degree and your
LL.M. in Bankruptcy degree in as little as seven semesters. The
joint degree program can reduce by half both the time and expense
of obtaining your LL.M.in Bankruptcy Degree.
LL.M. in Transnational Legal Practice
This program is designed for American and foreign students who have
a law degree and want to gain additional specialized skills in
transnational practice, including public international law
practice, cross-border transactions and transnational dispute
resolution.
LL.M. in International and Comparative Sports
Law
Offered in collaboration with the Instituto Superior de Derecho y
Economià (ISDE) of Madrid, this program is entirely unique in the
U.S., comprising one semester of highly focused and intensive
academics at St. John’s, followed by a semester practice placement
with a sports law firm, sports agency, professional or major
college team, league or association headquarters or other
sports-related entity.
LL.M. in U.S. Legal Studies for Foreign Law School
Graduates
This is a very focused LL.M. program designed specifically to
prepare foreign-trained lawyers with the training and skills
necessary to qualify for and pass the New York Bar Examination. For
foreign-trained lawyers wishing to practice in New York permanently
or to enter transnational practice in their home jurisdiction,
admission to the New York Bar is essential.
