The Office of Grants and Sponsored Research will be offering
three (3) unique instructional workshops explicating key elements
of the grants process during the course of the Fall 2012
semester:
1. Elements for Grants Success-Tools of the
Trade
Learn the basics of successful proposal writing and identifying a
diverse array of sponsors. The Elements for Grants Success Workshop
will aid you in identifying funding agencies, enhance your
understanding of sponsor review criteria, provide constructive
proposal building techniques and much more.

2. Proposal Budgeting
Learn the basics on how to create a winning budget for a grant
proposal. This session will explore the fundamentals in allocating
direct costs, indirect costs, fringe benefits and explain how they
all relate to one another within a grant proposal. In addition, you
will learn specifics pertaining to allowable costs vs. unallowable
costs, as well as how a budget should properly reflect your
narrative.

3. The STJ Grant Application Process and
Electronic Submissions
Become familiar with the many facets of the electronic submission
process for Federal grant proposals. Learn about Grants.gov, ERA
Commons, Fastlane, Cayuse and more. In addition, we will discuss
the internal process pertaining to submitting a proposal to a
Federal, State, City, or private agency through St. John’s
University.
