International Travel and Research: A look at the ideas and strategies behind the creation of the exhibition Sublime Porte: Art and Contemporary Turkey.

The exhibition at the Dr. M. T. Geoffrey Yeh Art Gallery, intended to acquaint viewers with a portrait of contemporary Turkish society, was the outgrowth of a trip to Turkey sponsored by the Turkish Cultural Center undertaken by a group of St. John’s faculty and administrators in 2011. Gallery Director and co-curator of the exhibition, Parvez Moshin, will discuss the complexities of organizing an international exhibition of this scope, and Fine Arts Department Professor Paul Fabozzi will speak on the research methods and strategies he used in the creation of work specifically for this show.
