13th Annual Women in Sports Day Pink Zone Celebration
Featuring Misty May-Treanor

Misty May-Treanor and her partner Kerri Walsh won goldmedals in beach volleyball at the summer Olympics of 2004 (in Athens) and 2008 (in Beijing). The dominant beach volleyball team of their era, May-Treanor and Walsh went a perfect 39-0 during the 2003 season and won 112 straight matches throughout 2007 and 2008.

Ms. May-Treanor grew up in California and played volleyball at Long Beach State from 1995 to 1999. In 1998, she honored her school team by being named the most valuable player of the NCAA tournament. Subsequently, she switched the next year from the classic six-person-per-side game to the two-person format of professional beach volleyball. Pairing with veteran Holly McPeak for two years, she and Ms. McPeak took fifth place at the Sydney Olympics.

Teaming with Ms. Walsh in 2001, the powerful pair was named AVP Team of the Year each year from 2003 to 2008. May-Treanor appeared on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2008,but had to leave the show after rupturing her Achilles tendon during rehearsals.
