May 2013	The Sustainability Department in cooperation with Residents Life, host the annual Chuck-It-4-Charity student move out food and clothing collection drive.
April 2013	St. John's University competed in the Campus Conservation Nationals against more than 200 schools across the nation and places 5th! April 22nd - St. John's Earth Club hosts an Earth Fest on the Great Lawn. April 26th - On New York State's Arbor Day 2013, St. John's hosts a Arbor Day Foundation Award Ceremony and Tree Planting Event. The Arbor Day Foundation presented St. John's with the award of Tree Campus USA 2012 and donated 65 trees which were planted by over 100 student volunteers.
March 2013	March 30th, RecycleMania 2013 Ends! St. John's University had another successful competition; veiw results here.
February 2013	February 3rd, RecycleMania 2013 begins! Sustainability Coordinators campaign to get students to pledge to "Do the Right Thing" and recycle.
January 2013	January 31st, The Arbor Day Foundation awards St. John's University recognition as a 2012 Tree Campus USA college.
December 2012	Residential Village Recycling Competitons come to an end. December 19th, St. John's University produces its semi-annual EPA MOU Environmental Assessment.
November 2012	November Issue of BioCycle Magazine freatured St. John's O2 Compost System in a two-page article. November 15th, Sustainability Coordinators participated in America Recycles Day by a campaigning event in Montgoris Dining Hall.

September 2012	Learning Communities came to the Organic Garden for an out of classroom lesson on Organic Gardening and Composting for Organic Soils Management.
August 2012	Sustainability Coordinators give a presentation during RA training 2012.
June 2012	Summer work in garden and composting.
May 2012	Residence Life and the Office of Sustainability launch their annual Student Move Out - "Chuck it For Charity For Charity" food and clothing drive. STARS gives St. John's sustainability performance a Gold rating!
April 2012	St. John's celebrated Earth Fest Event in honor of Earth Day with reycleble art, resuable tote bag decorating and compost demonstration. St. John's launches it's preview video on Organic Soils Management.
March 2012	St. John's received results for Campus Conservation Nationals, and St. John's is a CCN winner!
February 2012	St. John's participates in Campus Conservation Nationals and RecycleMania. The University also kicked off an employee carpool program called NY Rideshare.

January 2010	St. John’s initiatives are featured in Green Business Quarterly’s “Making the Grade.”
October 2009	University issues its Climate Action Plan Progress Report for “College Challenge” PlaNYC. St. John’s headlines conference on “Renewing the Campus: Sustainability and the Catholic University” at University of Notre Dame.
September 2009	Change Magazine for Higher Learning highlights University’s sustainability initiatives. University forms Standing Committee for Sustainability. St. John’s becomes a “Clean Air Campus” participant through NYS Department of Transportation Program.
August 2009	Energy and Water Audit report delivered. Students and administrators plant Organic Garden on Queens campus.
July 2009	Additional trees planted as part of MillionTrees Project University begins purchasing locally grown foods; students visit Long Island farms. St. John’s cosponsors “Food Composting Event” with NYC Sanitation Department and New York Botanical Gardens. NYS Energy Research Development Agency funds University’s energy conservation measures. University receives $1 million in energy grants for LEEDS-certification of its D’Angelo Academic Center.
June 2009	Staten Island students engage in “Dumpster Dive” as part of first Waste Characterization study. St. John’s submits “Memorandum of Understanding” progress report to EPA.
May 2009	Public Safety trades vehicles for10 hybrids. St. John’s becomes first U.S. university to use Rocket® In-vessel Food Composter.
