The Rendu Service Experience

The Rendu Service Experience is a service plunge that is available to all incoming first-year students. During the experience, incoming students will have the opportunity to work with Campus Ministers in reaching out to people in need across Staten Island. Service sites may include soup kitchens, nursing homes, and youth programs. Students will experience community living and form bonds through a shared journey of faith and friendship. Participating in this service plunge is an opportunity that will be both memorable and life changing. The cost for this amazing service opportunity is $100.

EDU 7266/7267: Technology for Teaching Literacy Applications in Regular and Special Education Settings/in Content Area Learning

Utilizing technology for literacy-based instruction and/or with content area learning, this course places emphasis on ways technology can be used in the classroom to acquire information, communicate, and enhance learning in either grades 1-5 or 6-12.

Digital Literacy Summer Institute

The Digital Literacies Summer Institute 2012 offers a full day of hands-on training for K-12 educators. Introductory and in-depth workshops will feature practical techniques that will help educators utilize digital literacies and multidisciplinary approaches to enhance learning in their classrooms.

Interactive workshops and hands-on training will include:

  • Smart Board Basic and Advanced Techniques
  • Developing Digital Stories
  • Web Design for Classroom Instruction
  • Transforming Teaching with Web Resources
  • Creative Presentations and Social Networks
  • Video Games and Classroom Learning
  • Bullying in the 21st Century

Becker Professional Education’s CPA Exam Review Class

This summer, Becker Professional Education will offer their CPA Exam Review course on the Staten Island campus of St. John’s University. Join your fellow St. John's alumni at the ballpark when the Staten Island Yankees play the Brooklyn Cyclones at the Richmond County Savings Bank Ballpark on Sunday, August 26th at 4:00 PM. The cost is $20 per person and includes space, food and beverage.
