Overlooking scenic New York Bay, our wooded Staten Island campus
combines a friendly, small-college environment with the resources
of a major Catholic university.
The 16.5-acre campus features rolling lawns, apartment-style
student residences and architectural styles that range from
red-brick colonial to the strikingly modern. The campus is located
in the residential Grymes Hill section of Staten Island, one of the
five boroughs, or counties, that make up New York City.
Plenty to Do, On and Off
Campus
The Staten Island campus offers undergraduate programs in the
liberal arts and sciences, business, education and professional
studies. Students may complete these degree programs on campus or
take courses toward their degree at St. John's other locations.
In addition to their courses, students enjoy a varied and
dynamic academic experience
through such programs as the University Freshmen Center, the new
Institute for Writing Studies, the award-winning Career Center, the
Honors Program, honors societies and co-curricular clubs.
The Staten Island campus features such new facilities as the
strikingly modern DaSilva Academic Center, which has state-of-art
computer and media lab facilities. Students also benefit from the
Loretto Memorial Library, a Fitness Center and a Campus Center.
Enlivening the academic experience are our Student Life, Residence Life and Campus Ministry
programs.
Free shuttle buses connect students to the Queens campus, to
points of interest on Staten Island and to the celebrated Staten
Island Ferry. A free, 20-minute ride across New York Bay brings
students to exciting lower Manhattan.
