The Department offers graduate training leading to a Master of
Arts in Government and Politics. The Department's mission is
to educate its graduate students about the institutions, theories
and political processes in local, state, federal and international
governments and organizations. The program prepares students for a
wide variety of career opportunities. These include careers
in the civil or foreign services, positions of political or
administrative responsibility in the public or private sectors,
careers in the field of education, or for further study as doctoral
or law students.
In the M.A. program, students from around the world are brought
together in an environment that promotes an understanding of
governments and their interactions. Seminars taught by
professionals in the field and small group discussions are both
important components of the M.A. program.
This challenging and rewarding program focuses on the development
of critical thinking and research skills. Students learn to analyze
information and to make informed decisions in a variety of
realistic international situations.
