St. John’s University appreciates the Oakdale campus’s historic value as an architectural, educational and recreational resource for South Shore residents. With its Planned Landmark Preservation (PLP) status, the site’s architectural integrity will be protected and its continuing usefulness ensured for the University and surrounding communities. By developing only 13 percent of the property, St. John’s can more efficiently meet the site’s needs. This balanced approach includes the costs of caring for an aging infrastructure and repairing buildings that require stabilization.
