Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Library

The 100,000+ volumes of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Library comprise an extraordinary collection of American and international insurance materials.  Our library has historical as well as contemporary collections, with the oldest volume dating back to 1569, and an extensive collection of insurance policies and documents tracing the development of insurance terminology and contracts since 1665. The Library was established in 1901 by the Insurance Society of New York (ISNY) to provide a high-quality education and a first-rate library for insurers and working professionals. In 1962, ISNY's School of Insurance formally became a fully accredited college, The College of Insurance. In June 1, 2001, the College merged with St. John's University and was renamed the School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Sciences of the Tobin School of Business. Today, individuals and institutions take advantage of the library's vast insurance resources through membership.
