Campus Event Promotion Guidelines

How to Promote Your Campus Event or Program:

Getting the word out about your campus events has never been so easy!  There are many ways to inform the St. John's community of campus events.

Events Calendar
All campus events MUST be on the Events Calendar before they are considered for further promotion. For information on this, please see the Events Calendar Submission Guidelines.

STJ Central Personal Announcements
Personal Announcements appear in the center box at the top of all St. John's Central homepages. They are ideal for quickly promoting upcoming events to specific targeted audiences.  Please click here for the STJ Central Personal Announcement Guidelines.

Targeted E-mail Messages
Targeted e-mail messages are sent out to specified groups of students.  This is an effective way to disperse important information about campus events, academic policies and important upcoming programming. Students often complain that they receive too many e-mails  so please request this option sparingly. Please click here for the Targeted E-mail Guidelines

STJ Central Channel Guidelines
Channels are the brightly-colored information boxes that appear on St. John's Central.  If you have a large-scale, University-wide event or series of events, you may want to request this option. All requests are considered but cannot be guaranteed due to the limited space available on STJ Central.  Preference is given to events targeted to multiple campuses. Please click here for the STJ Central Channel Guidelines.

STJ Central Video Guidelines
Videos on St. John’s Central are seen by 100’s if not 1000’s of  people and use up vital campus resources.  As such they need to be a cut above the ordinary video that you would present on your individual You Tube channel or your social network. Please click here for the STJ Central Video Guidelines.

Create a Publication, Ad or Communication Initiative
A modern, dynamic and sophisticated institution, St. John’s wants to share our Catholic, Vincentian and metropolitan mission locally, nationally and internationally. The Office of Marketing and Communications has developed tools for our faculty, administrators and staff to help tell the University’s story in an accurate and consistent manner. These tools are the foundation for the Brand Identity Program.

The Office of Marketing and Communications works closely with colleges and departments across the University to develop strategic marketing plans that address the unit’s most compelling priorities. Components of these plans can include printed materials (i.e. brochures, booklets), e-mail blasts, e-board announcements, Digest items and new web initiatives.

All requests for assistance require the completion of a Print and/or Web Project Form which should be directed to the marketing liaisons identified by each unit who will work directly with the Relationship Managers assigned to that area.
