Mission Statement
All of the activities of this sorority are directed to one end, that of the promotion of the doctrine of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. The members pledge themselves and their lives, if need be, to God and each other. We seek to instill, through our activities, a love of one another; a thirst for knowledge; a spirit of understanding; faith, hope, and charity. To these ideals and their fulfillment we dedicate ourselves now and forevermore.
Founded in 1946, Delta Epsilon Beta is one of the oldest and strongest sororities on the St. John’s University Staten Island Campus. The sisters are always seen together at various events, including sorority sleepovers, outings to the city, and various other social events. For the past decade, the sisters of Delta Epsilon Beta have been extremely involved on campus. Other organizations sisters are involved in include Greek Council, Up Till Dawn, St. Vincent De Paul, various honors societies and many more. Whether we are raising money, helping those in need or being academic leaders for our fellow peers, the sisters are seen on and off campus demonstrating love and sisterhood.
Our mascot is the Pegasus. This symbolic mythological creature shows our knowledge, glory, and inspiration that each sister demonstrates. Being a strong and unique creature, it represents our individual strengths and strengths as a whole. The winged creature symbolizes our goal of reaching out and helping as many people as possible through our various philanthropies. Our founders chose a mythological creature because we strive to achieve the impossible and unimaginable.
Delta Epsilon Beta is committed to helping others through various philanthropies. Over the years, we have volunteered for many events to raise awareness of Breast Cancer, Autism, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Leukemia and Batten’s Disease. We organize Toys for Tots on our campus every Christmas. We are also dedicated to helping the homeless by sponsoring Midnight Runs, during which the sisters prepare food with the St. Vincent De Paul Society and travel into Manhattan to give supplies, food and clothing to the homeless. We also hold an annual “Senior Senior Prom”, during which sisters organize a prom setting at an elderly home and provide the residents with a night of fun. The sisters of Delta Epsilon Beta are extremely dedicated to helping their community.
