Mission
The purpose of this organization is to provide the St. John's
University community with a gospel choir, whose main objective is
to provide Christian praise and worship through song.
Brief Description of
the Organization
The word Magnificat is Latin for to magnify; it is taken from
the Canticle of Mary in the Gospel of Luke 1:46-55, "My soul
proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my
savior." The members will gain knowledge and experience in musical
theory, while gaining valuable teamwork experience and to encourage
increased student participation in on-campus events and foster
positive community relations.
