Student Life

Under the auspices of St. John’s University Division of Student Affairs, the Department of Student Life on the Staten Island campus is dedicated to ensuring that each one of our students has the opportunity to engage in a rich collegiate experience.

In the supportive environment of the Staten Island campus community, Student Life professionals work in close partnership with faculty, staff, administration, and students to create an environment on campus that compliments classroom and academic experiences. We offer co-curricular and extra-curricular programs and services that foster student learning, leadership development, civic and moral responsibility, friendship, and creative expression in the spirit of our Catholic and Vincentian tradition.

Campus life on Staten Island is vibrant, welcoming, and community-centered and offers many academic, social, recreational, cultural, and leadership experiences for all students. Every student is invited to be fully engaged in campus life, and it is easy to get involved. Whether you’re a freshman or upperclassman, resident student or commuter, undeclared major or declared, extroverted or shy, you can be involved! If there is a program or service that you do not see listed on this Web site that you are interested in, be sure to contact Student Life as new clubs, services, programs, and activities are added each semester. We welcome your suggestions.

Programs and services offered by the Department of Student Life are overseen by the Dean of Student Life.  It is the philosophy of the Dean of Student Life to promote growth by holding students accountable for their actions and by assisting them in developing problem-solving skills.

The Dean and other administrators of the department act as advocates for students and will assist students with any needs they may have either directly or by personal referral.  Students who are unsure where to go for assistance or questions on any matter are encouraged to contact Student Life.
