Library Services

Web Site
You can access the library catalogs for all St. John’s Libraries through the Libraries’ Web page located on the St. John's Web site at www.stjohns.edu. There are over 150 databases also available.  Many of these databases offer complete periodical articles for print, download and email.  All databases can be accessed through computers on campus and off campus.

Instructional Services
(718) 390-4521
The library offers various formats of instruction.  Faculty is encouraged to arrange tailored group sessions on the use of the library.  Students will learn the basic procedures for finding materials on particular subjects, the use of periodicals indexes, and how to do research on the Web.  There will also be an online self-paced interactive tutorial available on the library’s Web site.

Inter-Campus Borrowing
(718)-390-4457
Books or journal articles not held by our library may be borrowed or photocopied from the Queens campus library.  The service is free of charge.  It takes 3-5 working days to get the materials.  Please ask for this service at the Circulation Desk.

Reference
(718) 390-4460
There is a librarian available everyday at the Reference Desk.  They are there to help you in any way possible to find the materials you need.  Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance.  You can also consult a librarian through telephone or through our E-Reference service “Ask Us” on the Web.

Interlibrary Loan
(718) 390-4362
Books or journal articles not held by St. John’s University libraries may be borrowed or photocopies from other libraries around the country for a fee.  This service is primarily for faculty and graduate students.  Request forms may be filled out and submitted online.

Reserve Materials
(718)-390-4457
The libraries’ reserve collections consist of books and photocopies of articles placed on reserve by instructors for required reading and class use.  Reserved materials are kept behind the Circulation Desk and used only within the library.  You need a valid ID to borrow them. Faculty may also place items in the EReserve Collection for online access.

Wagner College Library
A reciprocal relation has been established between St. John’s University Libraries and Wagner College Library.  St. John’s students can use their library and borrow their materials with a valid St. John’s ID card.   You can search their library catalog from any St. John’s libraries.
