St. John's Weathers Storm, Hurricane Irene, as Campuses Reopen

Out of concern for the safety of our students and their famlies, during this potentially severe storm, St. John's University has postponed move-in and some programs originally scheduled for Sunday, August 28, 2011.

Queens Campus

Move-in day for returning residents has been rescheduled to Monday, August 29, 2011.  Please enter the campus at Gate 4 located on Union Turnpike and report to the Marillac  Cafeteria.  Public Safety will provide directions to parking areas.  Student Financial Services will be available on move-in day to assist with financial concerns and to answer any questions.  Don’t forget that prior to move-in all students will have to pay their university bill; obtain a Storm Card and bring a completed Emergency Card.  Please refer to the letter that we sent you previously for details.

To accommodate students who cannot make these times on Monday, staff will be on hand to assist you with move-in until 4:30 p.m. All Off-Campus Residents (including Coolidge, Goethals, Henley Road and the Seton Complex) may move in anytime on Monday August 29 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    

Staten Island Campus

Returning Student Move-in:

Continuing resident students will check-in at  35 Arlo Road in the Office of Residence Life from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2011. Any student unable to check-in during these times may contact the Office of Residence Life at (718) 390-4080 to make other arrangements. Public Safety will be coordinating and directing traffic on Arlo Road and providing temporary parking permits for short term parking for the purpose of unloading. All persons requiring long term parking during the day, unless a street parking is secured, will be directed to campus.

New Student Orientation:

New Student and Commuter Parent Orientation for the Staten Island campus will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 8 a.m. in the Campus Center Cafeteria. Please report there promptly at 8 a.m. Parents may remain on campus for the duration of Monday while students experience an off-campus excursion. On Tuesday, August 30, 2011 ALL STUDENTS are to report to the Campus Center Cafeteria at 8 a.m. for the second half of Orientation and New Student Convocation.

Manhattan Campus

Manhattan Campus residents will check-in at the lobby at 101 Murray Street anytime from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Monday August 29, 2011.  Staff will be on hand to assist you. There is a parking garage next door to our building. Since Monday is a work day in lower Manhattan, please allow enough time for the increased traffic.
