March 25, 2008 12:15 PM
Kelleher Center, Staten Island campus

March is national Women’s history month. Join us as we discover how new york would not be what it is today without women. Beginning with the settlers who came to new york when it was known as new amsterdam, you will hear how a handful of women, both good and bad, helped to make this the greatest city in our country. This lecture focuses on women who helped improve the quality of life in New York.

Professor James Weiss holds graduate degrees from Fordham University, Long Island University and St. John’s University. He worked for the New York City Board of Education as an Assistant Principal for 24 years before opening his own counseling practice. He taught Discover New York and Speech at St. John’s University for the past several years. He is the author of several books including Three Hundred and Twenty Ways To Make Your Life Happen. He has also published several short stories about life in Brooklyn, New York and an anthology of poems.
