TRACK 1 ~ EMERGING PROGRAM
Emerging into a student leader through discover of self, networking with others, and giving back to the community.  This track focuses on the fundamentals of leadership and providing students with opportunities for personal growth and development through interactive workshops, direct community service, and self-reflection.


CORE REQUIREMENTS

7 Habits of Highly Effective Leaders
The 7 Habits apply at all 4 levels of leadership (personal, interpersonal, managerial, and organizational). This workshop will help you explore these different levels, build personal trust, and confidently empower others to be successful and achieve your goals.

Leadership and Diversity

Contemporary leaders need to possess the ability to work effectively in diverse environments.  This workshop will explore the ways in which diversity skills play a key role in your potency as a leader.

Visioning from Within:  Spiritual Life and Leadership
Examine the strength of leadership that comes from within through prayer, meditation and reflective sharing.

Leadership Retreat

Get the most out of your St. John’s experience!  Learn how to effectively communicate and work with others, manage time and stress effectively, create your Co-Curricular Transcript, and so much more while networking with other St. John’s student leaders!  Space is extremely limited, so register early!

Community Service
As part of the Vincentian mission of St. John’s University, a component would be to participate in 5 hours of direct community service throughout the academic year (You can choose any type of community service that you want).  You must submit the “Individual Student Community Service Verification Form” for the service you participated in. Submit to Natalie Maio (in D’Angelo 124B) upon completion of the service project.

Plagiarism – Giving Credit Where Credit if Due!
Plagiarism is one of the greatest concerns for students when they first come to university. The focus of this workshop is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of what plagiarism actually is and why referencing is so important in the academic environment.

Values, Ethics, and Morals in Leadership
Sometimes leaders must ethically question their leadership ability when faced with difficult decisions.  Learn how to enhance your skills in creating a sound and principled leadership style.
