Fitness Class Descriptions

Yoga: A combination of relaxation, breathing techniques and exercise, which combats stress and helps circulation and movement of the joints.

Pilates: A system of physical exercise involving controlled movements stretching and breathing.

Spin: An exercise program that utilizes a specially designed stationary bicycle and a series of cycling movements that provides the participant with both a physical and a mental workout.

Total Body: This class includes low impact aerobics, strength training and stretching.

Boxing: Using the elements and fundamentals of boxing to provide a vigorous workout

Belly dance: A dynamic art form, incorporating a wide array of styles and movements from the classical traditions of numerous Middle Eastern cultures that gets the blood moving with an invigorating total body warm-up and toning exercises

Abs: An up-tempo abdominal emphasis workout.

Zumba: A dance fitness program based on international rhythms with easy to follow moves to create a one of a kind fitness experience.

Cross-Fit: A combination of weight lifting, sprinting, and gymnastics. A high intensity workout that lasts around 10-20 minutes and is designed to increase proficiency in speed, agility, balance, flexibility, and coordination.

Cardio Kickboxing: A class which combines martial arts and choreographed moves for a great workout.

Judo: martial art and a sport which disciplines the mind and body. Also called “the gentle way”

Self-Defense: The purpose of this course is to provide a basic understanding of Aiki- Jujutsu, a classical Japanese martial art. Our main focus of training will be the physical application of this art. Aspects of Aiki-Jujutsu including history, philosophies, and principles will be covered throughout the semester.

F.I.T. (Functional Integrated Training) - Challenge yourself beyond traditional strength training with this advanced, total body functional strength training class. We will challenge your muscular endurance as well as balance and coordination by moving through all planes of motion with multi-joint and compound exercises.

Kickboxing Technique Class
– This kickboxing class will bring your attention to the technique required to kick and punch in traditional classes.  You will be challenged and brought out of your comfort level to learn and develop new skills that will allow you to get the full kickboxing experience.

Total Conditioning - Combine full-body resistance training with continuous cardio training and you get Total Conditioning. This multi-level class is for anyone who wants to develop muscular strength and endurance. This athletic workout uses a variety of equipment and cycle activity with built-in recovery for an efficient, easy-to-follow workout

House Dance - Basic steps in House dance that started in the late 80s and taught around the world. Focuses on body movement, basic syncopation and polyrhythmic aspects in footwork. With Light Choreography and rapid movements you are sure to get a great workout in along with new dance moves.
