Show Choir was founded in the Spring 2010 semester as an
alternate performing group on campus. So many groups involve
singing or dancing, but few incorporate both with the ability to
utilize a large cast. Show Choir aims to use both these
elements of performance to create energetic and entertaining shows
that excite our audiences. Our shows are meant to inspire
people – to sing, to dance, to smile, to think – both on-campus and
off. As we continue to grow, we hope to be involved in many
on-campus events and community outreach programs. We hope
that you’ll come out to see a show in our upcoming season!
The intended purpose of the SJSC is be to foster a community at the
University that will be dedicated to enriching students’ lives
through music and dance. The group devotes itself to bringing
varied styles of music and dance to the University. Show
Choir aims to allow its members room for personal growth by
constantly aiming for excellence in performance. Members also have
the opportunity to create lasting bonds with other members through
continued cooperation. Members will be expected to retain
positive attitudes not only during rehearsal, but in their campus
lives, and shall positively reflect the group at all times.
We also hope to extend our positive message to the community at
large, sharing our music and its power to inspire.

Membership to the group is gained through an audition. The
audition will be comprised of learning and performing a song as
well as a short piece of choreography. E-Board members will
observe the auditions and contact those people who they feel meet
the criteria required to be in the group, which includes, but is
not limited to, good tonality, consistency in pitch, ease in
picking up and performing movement, and overall enthusiasm during
the audition process.
