Our purpose is to promote unity as well as cultural awareness of
the styles, techniques, and beauty of South Asian dance. In doing
so, we serve to establish an open forum for all to share. By
uniting individuals of different heritage and culture, RAAZ
expresses each member's passion, dedication, and talent for
dance.
Organization's Mission
RAAZ is St. John's University's all-female South Asian Dance Team.
We take advantage of this time to use our individual strengths as
an opportunity to improve our weaknesses for the betterment of the
team as a whole. We celebrate the beauty and Diversity of South
Asian dance. Complete with auditions, performances, and elaborate
costumes, RAAZ offers a medium through which many students may not
only practice their skills, but also enhance their experience of
this remarkable and beautiful art. By working with students of
various artistic backgrounds to choreograph and perform, our
members have broadened the artistic perspectives of both themselves
and their peers. Since many of our holidays and rituals are
celebrated through the art of dance, each RAAZ member utilizes
their talent and commitment of dance as a unifying goal.

Hangama, Garba Fest, Asian Night, Midnight Run, Sathyam, and Dance
workshops.
