Resident students are given a phone line
and password protected voicemail. Each student in a suite
will have his/her own telephone jack and will be assigned a
telephone extension that can be used for both on campus calling
(four digit dialing) and off campus calling (ten digit
dialing). Off-campus phone calls can be made using a calling
card.
Setting up Telephone Service
Using AUDIX for the First Time
- Dial into Audix (from inside the university extension 2626);
from anywhere outside University 718 990-2626
- When Audix answers you will be prompted to enter your extension
number followed by the pound (#) sign.
- You will then be prompted to enter your password, followed by
the "#" sign.
Note: Your initial password is 0599 - Audix will then prompt you to speak your name and approve
it.
- Finally Audix will prompt you to enter a new password. (Note:
Audix passwords must be 5 digits or longer.)
- Hang up.
To Create Personal Greetings
- Dial into Audix (ext. 2626).
- Key in entension followed by the "#" sign. If calling from your
extension, just press the "#" sign.
- Key in your password followed by the "#" sign.
- Press "3" to record personal greeting.
- Press "1" to create/change/delete greeting. You will then be
asked to select your greeting number. (You can record up to {9}
different pre-recorded greeetings.)
- Audix will prompt you to start recording your greeting. When
you have finished recording, press the "#" sign.
- Press the number "1" again, to activate the greeting.
- Hang up.
Helpful Hint
Write down your prepared greeting and practice the greeting in a
comfortable voice before recording.
