FAQ

What does it mean to be “eligible to participate?”
To ensure that you are eligible to participate in the Room Selection Process, you need to meet all of the deadlines and requirements outlined in this packet.  Being eligible means that you have completed the outlined steps and are academically and judicially qualified for possible participation room selection process.  This does NOT guarantee you a space on the day of Room Selection.

How will my financial aid be affected if I am not selected for on campus housing?
For those residents who are eligible but not selected to participate in the room selection process, the University will make every effort to maintain their present level of University aid. Presidential Scholars and athletes who were packaged to include on-campus housing will have that agreement honored regardless of class status.

Do I get my deposit back?
If you are not selected to take part in the selection process, you will receive your housing deposit back by May 1st, 2008.

I am a Presidential Scholar/Clare Booth Luce Scholar, have a full scholarship as an athlete (tuition AND room/board) or as an ROTC member, and/or am participating in the “Discover the World” program. How does this process work for me?
You must submit the $500 housing deposit and Room/Roommate(s) Request Form by the deadlines outlined. Additionally, all students in the abovementioned groups will be subject to the GPA/judicial review.  Every effort will be made to secure a spot for those resident students who fall into the above four categories, but demand will ultimately dictate the outcome and roommate requests may be affected.

My requested roommate is in one of the categories listed in the above question. Does that mean I will get selected to participate automatically?
No. If your requested roommate is in one of those above categories, it is possible that they will be selected to participate in room selection and you will not.

Does the date when I pay my deposit matter?
The date you pay your deposit does not matter as long as you have paid your housing deposit by the March 7th, 2008 deadline and/or turned in your roommate form by the March 25th, 2008 deadline.

How do I apply for a single room?
If you wish to be considered for a single room, you must indicate that on the Room/Roommate(s) Request Form due to the Office of Residence Life (Donovan C-16), no later than Tuesday, March 25th, 2008, at 4:30 p.m., as well as submit the housing deposit.

Will there be any preview nights to see floor plans before room selection?
Preview nights will be scheduled in April after letters go out letting residents know who has been selected to participate in room selection.  Preview nights are designed for residents to view the floor plans and see what rooms are available.  If you are selected, come with your requested roommates to see what rooms interest you for room selection. There will be Residence Life Staff members present to answer any questions you may have about room selection. Location and time will be announced.
