Housing Selection Options

Students may indicate their interest to participate in Housing Selection in one of three ways:

1.  Suite/Apartment Selection (For students interested in filling a suite or apartment to capacity including the single room if applicable) - In this case, students must indicate the roommates and suitemates they wish to live with. Please note the suite or apartment needs to be filled to capacity.  Suite /Apartment selection is offered in configurations of 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2 bedroom suites or apartments.  Suite/Apartment options are subject to availability. 
    
2. Room/Single Selection (For students interested in filling a bedroom in a suite or apartment to capacity, including single occupancy rooms) - In this case, students must indicate the roommate or roommates they wish to live with (with the exception of single requests), but the other bedrooms in the apt/suite will be filled throughout the housing selection process.  Remember Students interested in applying for a single room must take part in Room/Single Selection. Room options are subject to availability.
    
3. General Bed Selection (For students interested in applying for a “Bed” in St. Johns University Housing without a roommate and/or a suitemate preference) - In this case, students will select from what “Beds” are available; “Beds” primarily exists in double and triple room types.  Bed space options are subject to availability.

Choosing a Housing Selection Process and Roommates

Students who are interested in participating in the Housing Selection Process with a roommate, suitemates, or apartment-mates need to be aware of the following:

• Roommate, Suitemate, and Apartment-mate requests MUST BE MUTUAL and indicated on each participants COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED online Housing Selection Application.
   
• Roommates, Suitemates, and Apartment-mates must be current St. John’s University students at the time of Housing Selection.
   
• Current St. John’s commuter students are eligible to participate in the housing selection process and may be requested as a roommate, suitemate, or apartment-mate in the Housing Selection Process.
  • Commuter students MUST BE ELIGIBLE to participate in the Housing Selection Process (submitted $500.00 deposit, passed the GPA/student conduct review, and submitted a Housing Selection Application by the deadlines)
     
• Students may NOT request new students (Incoming Transfers or Freshmen) as roommates, suitemates, or apartment-mates in the Housing Selection Process

Roommates/Groups that are selected to participate will choose a room/suite/apartment together. The roommates’ or Group member housing selection points for GPA, class status, and student conduct history will be averaged to determine whether or not they are eligible to be invited to choose a suite/apartment during “Housing Selection Daze”.
