Housing Selection 2013-2014

It’s that time of the year! The Office of Residence Life is gearing up for the 2013-2014 Housing Selection Process.  Current St. John’s students (residents and commuters) are all invited to participate in housing selection.  The process allows students to select their residential community, room or apartment, and roommates for the upcoming academic year.

Please read through the information below and pay special attention to the deadlines and requirements for current students to participate throughout the process.  Please re-visit our website in the spring for further updates. For questions, visit the Office of Residence Life (Rear entrance of Donovan Hall-lower level), email reslife@stjohns.edu, or call (718) 990-2417.

The Housing Selection Process has three major steps that must be completed:

Step 1: Submit $500 housing deposit to Student Financial Services.
Pay housing deposit Monday, January 14, 2013 until Friday, February 8, 2013 by 3pm EST.

Students can make in person payments directly to the Student Financial Services (Bent Hall), by phone, by mail, by check or credit card online.

  • To make online payments students must log into their personal UIS account.  Once logged in please select “Menu”, then “Student Account”, and then “Housing Application for Continuing Students”. If you have a designated authorized user (parent or guardian) they can pay the Fall Continuing Student Housing Selection Deposit on your behalf by going online to the Student Accounts Suite.
  • Mailed Checks must be made payable to St. John’s University and include the students ID number and “Fall Cont. Housing Selection Deposit” in the memo of the check.

Credits on student accounts from current or past semesters cannot be used to satisfy a housing deposit for the Fall 2013 process. Please note a housing deposit does not guarantee participation in the University Housing Selection process.

Step 2: Complete Online Housing Application & Agreement by 4:00p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013. This step is required to continue the review of a student’s eligibility to obtain a housing selection appointment.

  • Students who paid the Fall 2013 housing deposits by the deadline and who have met all eligibility requirements for housing selection participation will have access to the online housing application.
  • Housing application eligibility is determined by a student’s conduct history and academic G.P.A. standing. We do require our continuing students to have a 1.95 G.P.A. or higher to apply for housing.
  • How will I know I’m eligible to continue in the process? Students will receive an email notification on Thursday, February 21, 2013 informing them whether or not they have been selected or disqualified from moving forward in the Housing Selection process.
