Hello everyone! My name is Barrett Hipes and I am the
Residence Director for Donovan Hall. Prior to coming to St.
John’s, I spent six years working in Residence Life and Residential
Education at the University of Arkansas and more recently at
Rutgers University. My educational background is in
music. I have a bachelor’s degree in saxophone performance
and music education from the University of Arkansas and a master’s
in percussion performance from Rutgers. I am an active
performer, composer, and commissioner of new music projects, and I
try to spend as much time as possible practicing and performing
solo and with my percussion quartet. I am excited to be a
part of the St. John’s community and I very much enjoy meeting,
mentoring, and assisting my residents as they take the plunge into
college life! Please stop by my office at any time if there
is anything that I can do for you.
