
Student Government, Inc. (SGI) is the official representative of
the undergraduate student body on the Queens campus of St. John's
University and the parent organization of all undergraduate student
organizations on campus. SGI membership consists of an
Executive Board, elected Representatives, and appointed Committee
Chairs. The Executive
Board, which is elected by the entire student body, is made up
of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Senior
Senator, Junior Senator, and Sophomore Senator. There are forty two
(42) elected representatives -
two full time undergraduate students from each class within each
college. These representatives are responsible for communicating
the concerns and needs of students from the class that they
represent. Lastly the committees of SGI provide the students of St.
John’s University with programs and services. There are ten (10) standing
committees of SGI, all with a chair and two co-chairs.
Not only does Student Government, Inc. represent
YOU, it is also responsible for the coordination and
regulation of the undergraduate student activities and
organizations on campus; while allocating funds from the Student
Activity Fee to various student organizations, SGI committees &
College representative programming, student development projects as
well as community building, service-focused and social
activities.
Student Government Inc.’s meetings are
open to all interested parties where many topics vital to the
future of student activities and organizations at St. John’s are
discussed in an open forum and voted on by the floor of Student
Government. Please note that all meetings and events are
