Emergency Preparedness Exercises

Exercises Conducted:

August 10, 2010  a three scenario tabletop exercise was coordinated with the University Departments that make up the Emergency Operations Team.  The exercise was comprised of Stay in Place, Evacuation and Study Abroad scenarios in order to exercise the emergency readiness,  response and recovery plans of the University.  It is noted that members  of the campus community are notified by means of established communication channels, in addition the surrounding community is informed through the Office of Community Relations, when there is a campus exercise scheduled which includes first responders. For this exercise a notice was not sent out to the community. Training Objectives for this exercise were:

  1. Re- Familiarize Emergency Management Team with the University’s Emergency Plan (Structural and Operational);
  2. Exercise initial protocols for three scenarios in a walk-thru table top exercise;
  3. To improve procedures based on lessons learned (after action report).
