Sexual Assault Programs
The University educates the student community about sexual assaults and date rape through mandatory freshman orientations each fall and spring and in supplemental programs held on campus throughout the academic year. Literature of date rape education, risk reduction is available in the Student Health Services Office and in the Office of Counseling and Consultation.
Take Back the Night Awareness program is sponsored by the Department of Student Wellness to bring a voice to the issue of sexual assault, abuse and dating violence. The program hosts a rally and march during the fall semester.
Turn off the Violence Week provides a multi faceted educational programs focusing on the diversity of issues related to violence affecting our society today. Issues such as human trafficking, rape and violence are addressed.
Self Defense classes are provided through Campus Rec and open to all university community.
Clothesline Project is a program addressing the issues of violence against women. It is a vehicle for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt. They then hang the shirt on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women.
The Department of Student Wellness provides Healthy Relationship workshops together with sexual assault vs sexual harassment workshops throughout the semester.
